Objective To study the incidence of hypokalemia in stroke patients and analyze the causes. Methods A retrospective analysis of 72 hospitalized patients with stroke in our hospital and 982 other examiners as a control, the incidence of hypokalemia compared, and according to the severity of stroke, nature, vomiting, age group, compared to each possible reason group of low Kakamosis. Results The incidence of hypokalemia in severe brain injury group and light and moderate brain injury group were 40% and 24.3% respectively. The incidence of hypokalemia in both groups was significantly higher than that in control group (P <0.01 or <0.05) Vomiting and no vomiting groups, cerebral infarction group and cerebral hemorrhage group, ≤ 60 years old and> 60 years old group had no significant difference in the incidence of hypokalemia. Conclusions The heavier the degree of stroke is, the higher the incidence of hypokalemia. Hypokalemia is closely related to the severity of stroke, vomit, nature of stroke and patient’s age. Further large sample and multicenter studies are needed to confirm.
