阿城是“寻根文学”流派的代表作家之一，他用中国传统的文化──心理来观照、理解和表现世界的方式是独特的，就是使创造主体“浸入”中国文化精神，并使之内化为“气”，从而去看取世界，表现世界。具体表现为：静观默察的观照方式，身心合一、天人合一的理解方式，静和虚（或空）的表现方式。
