Stealth technology is being studied from the shady missile cruise missile, which uses plastic engine components, to the use of glass fiber plastic wings for fighter and bomber aircraft to signal the presence of difficult-to-detect aircraft and missiles. The U.S. Air Force is rapidly developing stealth technology that dramatically reduces the detection sensitivity of Warsaw Pact country radars and other sounding equipment-detecting bomber fighters and cruise missiles. The use of radar absorbing materials and refractive materials, advanced electronic jamming systems, sophisticated aerodynamic designs and low-infrared engines are able to increase the survivability of the aircraft against the Soviet air defense system, which includes improved over and under-miss capabilities.
