中文的人名和地名在翻译成英文时应该按照英文的发音习惯进行改造,而不必在意这是否会让中国人听起来觉得是“怪腔怪调”的。这是因为,翻译后的句子根本就不是给中国人听的;按照英文的发音习惯进行改造可以保证语言的协调性和一致性。
Chinese names and place names, when translated into English, should be adapted according to the pronunciation habits of English without having to care whether this would make the Chinese sound like “strange”. This is because the translated sentence is not to the Chinese at all; in accordance with the pronunciation of the English habit of transformation can ensure language coherence and consistency.
