玄武岩纤维是将破碎的玄武岩矿石在矿炉中加热到1450℃~1500℃熔融后,通过铂铑合金漏板拉成粗纤维,再经过近一步的缠绕机拉制成需要的规格纤维。玄武岩纤维的主要化学成分为:SiO2、Al2O3、CaO、MgO和Fe2O3、FeO、TiO2、K2O、Na2O及少量杂质。玄武岩的不同组分赋予了纤维特定的性能,如:
