This paper describes a new combined measurement system of global positioning system (GPS) carrier phase signal, rate gyro signal and baseline strain signal for simultaneous attitude determination and baseline measurement. Each of the three body axes selects the carrier phase and rate gyro signals as the two state quantities of the simplified decoupled attitude Kalman filter. Strain signals are input to a strain-displacement graphics program to estimate the static and dynamic motion of the flexible baseline to provide the baseline correction vector necessary for attitude calculations. The experimental results of a rigid platform with 5 m flexible cantilever beams show that the attitude determination accuracy can reach the level of angular classification and the baseline measurement reaches the accuracy of mm level.
