密腺小连翘的主要药用成分由其分泌结构产生和贮存。各类器官的解剖学研究表明：其分泌结构根据形态结构特点可分分泌细胞团和分泌囊（道）两类，前者含金丝桃素等，后者合挥发油，并指出了两类分泌结构在各器官的分布位置和密度，为此种药用植物的开发利用提供了依据。
The major medicinal components of Forsythia scoparites are produced and stored by their secretory structures. The anatomical studies of various organs showed that the secretory structures of the organs can be divided into secretory cell clusters and secretory cysts (channels) according to their morphological and structural features. The former contains hypericin and the latter contains volatile oil, and two types of secretory structures are pointed out. The location and density of various organs provide a basis for the development and utilization of this medicinal plant.
