Because cultivated oats (Avena byzantina or A. Satva) are hexaploid (2n = 6x = 42), it is thought that 21 kinds of monomers (2n-1 = 41) and 21 kinds of missing bodies (2n-2 = 40) . This complete series of monomers and absent plants has great practical value in the research of genetics and breeding of oats. Mono-breeding of oats has been discontinued in several varieties, but the complete series of near-isogenic lines within the same variety
