日本富士纺织等纤维厂商,从棉的纤维素成分与虾蟹的甲壳质成分相同这一特征,得到启发,利用虾蟹甲壳质,制造新型药物和人工皮取得成果。甲壳质是组成蟹、虾以及昆虫体的甲壳硬质的成分。利用甲壳质制成带有无数小孔的串珠,直径为0.001~3毫米多种规格,犹同有孔玻璃的圆形硬体,表面如同蜂巢,带有无数小洞。这种小洞与开发新型药物有着密切关系。一般药物在进入体内后急速分解,效果易行消失。如采用上述有孔物体,将药物置入洞内,再行服用,则药物效果可保持较长时间。正如口含糖块一样,徐徐溶化变小。随有孔串珠徐徐分解,药物也随之缓缓露出,发生效力。
