The female ninja in the late work of Thomas Pynchon, the writer of American postmodernism, is of extraordinary significance in the novel. Ninja, as the essence of Japanese traditional culture, is one of the evidences that Pynchon tried to find a spiritual home to reshape the social system from the oriental civilization for the collapsing Western civilization. Due to the changes of the times, the flawed female ninjas have turned themselves into new ninjas different from the traditional ninjas, re-serving the people and the society, thus becoming the selected fighters for the maintenance of social order.
