The serum levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured in 175 normal subjects of different ages. The results showed that the total trend of SOD and GSH-PX activity decreased with age, and the SOD was obvious, while the lipid peroxidation metabolites MDA increased with age, these changes in each group gender no difference. It shows that human aging is closely related to the damage of lipid peroxidation triggered by free radicals generated during the growth and metabolism of human body. Therefore, removing excessive free radicals in the body may be beneficial for anti-aging.
