The Effect of Legal Socialization on Democratization Alan S. Cohen Susan O. White The rule of law is a basic concept of a free and democratic system; after its dramatic changes in Eastern and Central Europe in 1989, it was often heard cheerfully. It is very moving that the crowd suppressed for an indefectible regime for so long still believes in the ideal of freedom and democracy. An important research topic for those interested in studying the role of legal culture in transitional politics is the power of cultural norms that support or undermine the process of democratization. Using the data from the survey, this article compares the legal culture of the three emerging democracies (Bulgaria, Poland and Hungary) to the legal culture of the three old democracies (Spain, France and the United States), bringing together both the legal value of the six countries and the social Macroscopic comparison of beliefs also micro-analyzes differences in attitudes among different age groups in different countries. The results show that people in emerging democracies have less support for political rights than older democracies and support for social equity over older democracies. However, in the case of commitment to the rule of law, the reactions of these six countries vary Big. 〔Shi Qi translation
