The South African winery (SAB) in Africa controls 98% of the South African beer market. The castle brand beer produced by the factory has a long history dating back to 1895. South African wineries are acquiring shares of loss-making breweries throughout Africa and even China and Hungary. Former Deputy Chairman Weinberger Anheuseribusch said: ‘I saw in the United States last summer that people from SAB appeared in the wholesalers conference center. They are looking for a wholesaler to sell their beer in the United States. They are very aggressive and I am very impressed. The SAB plans to conduct acquisitions in a region near its home country in the short term. The state-owned breweries, which include Zimbabwe, Tanzania, and Mozambique, have been acquired and they are now buying from state-owned breweries in Angola.
