In order to meet the needs of the reform of the medical insurance system in China and help readers understand the production, operation and management of foreign over-the-counter drugs (OTC), we invited a British expert, CDSnook, Director of OTC of Shanghai Roche Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. In the section of “Medical aspect”, Mr. Oliver presided over a lecture on OTC and conducted written communication with colleagues from Chinese medicine circles. Mr. Snook has been involved in the pharmaceutical industry for 17 years. Beginning as a pharmaceutical representative at the Nicholas Laboratory in Oxford, he has held the positions of Sales Manager and Marketing Manager in the Prescription Drugs and Non-Prescription Drugs and has led a nine-month market research program in the United States. After Roche took over Nicholas Laboratories in 1991, Mr. Snook was relocated to Basel as a non-prescription drug manager in charge of the technology company’s OTC work in Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Therefore, a great deal of experience and information have been accumulated in this regard. After he was appointed director of Roche’s China OTC department in August last year, he was very enthusiastic about exchanging ideas and experiences with his Chinese counterparts. In August this year, he made a speech at the Beijing China’s first OTC International Exchange Seminar at the invitation of the Central Ministry of Health and the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association. Later in the hospital pharmacy working meeting held in Yantai soon conducted this exchange. Although Mr. Snook is busy with work, he is still very happy to accept this magazine’s invitation to host this written communication. His speech will be published continuously from this issue. Mr. Snook asked the editor to convey his opinion: I hope readers can raise questions and opinions, participate in written exchanges and discussions. He will be very happy to answer all the questions raised by readers. This issue organizes this file in writing
