Cultural empathy competence is the key to effectiveintercultural communication,for it has significant impact on the quality,effect and process of intercuItural communication.This paper analyzes the communication barriers that cause failures in intercultural communication in the TV series A Native of Beijing in New York from the perspective of cultural empathy competence and reiterates the importance of developing cultural empathy competence in different cultural contexts.
