黄新波原名黄裕祥,广东台山人。是革命初期众多的一代版画家中年龄最小的一位,和当时的一大批爱国进步美术青年一样,为了能让新兴木刻成为国内反文化围剿以及面对列强殖民统治的枪与炮,他在鲁迅先生的引导与激励下,大量创作以工人与农民为主题的木刻作品,以此想要唤醒旧中国群众团结起来反抗黑暗势力的意识。黄新波从中学时代开始就参加革命活动,编写进步杂志,因此受到当地政府的通缉,后经香港抵达上海。多年后黄新波回忆起
