Literacy Class was one of the unique organizational forms of the literacy campaign conducted by the Chinese Communist Party in the Anti-Japanese Base Area during the War of Resistance Against Japan. It has a very important influence in the history of the cultural construction in the Anti-Japanese Base Area. In Yimeng Mountain, southeast of Shandong Province, the word class literally evolved into a special title for young women in the area. The women literacy classes in Yimeng Anti-Japanese Base established a new paradigm for women’s education and social education in wartime and are an important driving force and an important part of Yimeng’s spiritual formation. Studying and exploring the unique history and culture phenomenon of literacy classes today and drawing on its valuable experience is still of great significance to improving the quality of women in the current society, especially in rural areas.
