The acquisition of products and operations in 2003 increased sales of the top 6 of the 20 pesticide companies ranked by A-GROW. For the first time, Sumitomo Chemical and MAI, which topped $ 1 billion in sales, remained the sixth-largest DuPont after a one-billion-dollar difference. The recovery of the global pesticide market and the weakening of the U.S. dollar have led to an increase in sales of all major companies except Monsanto last year. By the year ended March 31, 2004, Sumitomo Chemical’s strong growth in pesticide business was primarily due to the first full year contribution of Takeda’s pesticide business. More growth comes from sanitizers in Japan and overseas
