东古银行是在东固革命根据地创办的东古平民银行基础上建立起来的。1929年10月,在赣水河畔、赣中西部辽阔大地上,党领导的土地革命将东固、延福等小块零星根据地,迅速扩大到吉安、吉水、峡江、安福、分宜、万安、泰和、永新等10余个县,成立了赣西临时苏维埃政府。为适应形势的发展,赣西临时苏维埃政府决定以东古平民银行为基础,成立东古银行,行长由黄启绶担任,行址仍设在东固街。次年2月,红四军前委与赣西、 The East Bank was established on the basis of the East Kuk Civil Bank, founded by the revolutionary base of the East Turkistan.
