据有关部门预测,至2010年,进出湄洲湾航道的货物运输量将达到5400多万吨,这一发展趋势将给航道管理部门带来较大压力,主要是进出港湾的大型船舶急剧增加,通航密度加大,航道通过能力难以适应,尤其对LNG安全航行的特殊要求压力更大,现根据收集到的有关资料,分析开辟分流航道的必要性并提出分流航道的设想方案。
