Eugene O’Neal was the nation’s most famous playwright in the first half of the twentieth century and was the first playwright in the United States to win the Nobel Prize. His dramatic works reveal the living conditions and inner experiences of modern people and truly represent the life and spirit of the United States in the twentieth century. O’Neill’s later four play “to send iceman” “long night” “Hugh” “moonlight unfortunate people” by some critics as the pinnacle of his life. From the point of existentialism, it is of great significance to discuss O’Neill’s interpretation of the existence meaning in his later works.
