Many studies have pointed out that the breathing of helium - oxygen mixture may cause some changes in body function, one of the major changes is the voice of the tone disorders, nasal color, and even affect the call contact. As early as 1940, Dublin, Baldes and Williams studied the change of voice when breathing helium-oxygen mixture, pointing out that the fundamental frequency did not change, but the other frequencies became higher. Sergeant reported a decrease in speech intelligibility and a significant change in tone when breathing a helium-oxygen mixture. The formant frequency increased by 1.51-fold from normal after breathing Helium-Oxygen for 10 minutes, but there was no spherical strain at the fundamental frequency. The authors propose that the feedback mechanism may be involved in adjusting the speech so that it is close to the normal speech under breathing air conditions. The purpose of this work is to further explore the phonological changes caused by breathing helium-oxygen and the physiological mechanism of the changes.
