民国时期是闽剧艺术大变革的时期。受当时席卷全国的戏曲改良浪潮影响,城市中相继建立了新型的现代剧场,改变了传统舞台演出格局,新潮演剧竞相展现。闽剧舞台艺术也进行了全面的变革,尤其在景物造型方面,其变革的步伐迈得更快,一改传统舞台中性化装置为西式写实布景的介入,所创造的画幕布景与机关布景,在全省乃至全国戏曲界皆属走在前列,并名扬全国各地及海外东南亚一带。直至上世纪40年代才走向衰落,其变革的兴衰现象值得后人回顾与思考。
The period of the Republic of China was a period of great revolution in the art of Min operas. Influenced by the tide of drama improvement which swept across the country at that time, new type modern theater has been established in the city successively, changing the traditional stage performance pattern and displaying the trendy theatrical performances.
