1. Preface It has been more than a decade since the Japanese Society of Applied Physics first published a research paper on optical computers. During this period, the relevant papers published by each society have been increasing year by year, and at present there is an average of two seminars a year. In order to realize the optical computer, no matter which research is indispensable to the adjustment of the algorithm and the system structure, the optical functional devices needed for the system constitution and the new programming techniques and methods.
