Hong Xiaochun (hereinafter referred to as Hong): Since the 1970s, you have been one of the most archeological archeologists in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. May I ask you when your interest in research in this area began? And what has changed in your 40-year research topic? Bellwood: My interest in archeology began in 1960 when I was 17 . The reason is that at that time I read some popular books related to archeology. At that time, I was an apprentice in my hometown, a shoe-making factory in Leicester, England. In 1963, after passing the exam, I received a scholarship from the British government into King’s College Cambridge, where I studied Rome and European archeology until 1966.
