进入现代社会以来,科学技术和社会进步的互动关系比历史上任何时期都密切。而在当前构建和谐社会的历史时期,公众科学素养的高低将直接影响社会的和谐程度。因为,科学素养关乎科学方法、科学知识的掌握程度并因此直接影响公众的思维方式,关乎个体如何通过行为方式来参与社会,关乎个体的价值观如何融入社会的价值观。鉴于公众的科学素养与构建和谐社会的密切关系,科学素养的培养应与构建和谐社会同步进行,这与我国目前公众科学素养的现状有直接的关系。在现代社会中只有把构建和谐社会与培育公众的科学素养同时作为发展的目标,社会的全面和谐才有更切实的保障,才能实现个人与个人、群体与群体、人与自然的和谐相处与幸福安康,才能实现人类的共同进步。
