2013年10月6日,河北省农林科学院粮油作物研究所、谷子研究所研究人员在河北省农林科学院粮油作物研究所藁城试验站玉米田正常直立的玉米上发现二点委夜蛾为害雌穗,幼虫在苞叶内啃食籽粒、穗轴及花丝。此次发现二点委夜蛾为害位置在玉米田中部,呈小片状,在大约直径3～4 m的范围,调查了65株,其中36株受到二点委夜蛾幼虫为害,被害株率55.4%,有虫雌穗内有4～5龄幼虫1～3头,剥开苞
