The European Family Law Association (CEFL), which is responsible for coordinating and harmonizing European family law, has embarked on an attempt to harmonize substantive law in the field of traditional European family law since its establishment in 2001. Even after ratification of the Lisbon Treaty by EU member states, there is still room for CEFL to play a role.
