Qureshi is the influential South Asian writer in the British literary world. Most of his literary works are grouped into two categories: literature on social conditions in Britain examining social issues and youth growth literature on individual issues. Kuressi created the first drama “King and Me” in 1983, focusing on the living conditions and growth of the white young working class in the Thatcher era. This thesis aims at the growth theme of this drama by using the theory of growth and trauma narration to investigate the disillusionment process of two Elvis Presley fans and to analyze the class motivation and gender differences in the theme of growth. The purpose is to reveal the different growth patterns of cognitive development and emotional experience The gender politics of the traumatic narrative thus deepens the understanding of the growing concepts and traumatic problems of contemporary British immigrant literature represented by Qureshi.
