Phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase (PI 3K), as a key enzyme in insulin signaling, plays an important role in the regulation of glucose metabolism. In patients with type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance (IR), the level and activity of PI 3K is reduced and defects in response to insulin stimulation exist. Studies have shown that the genetic variation of PI 3K and its related substances is a major cause of decreased mRNA expression and kinase activity. In addition, a variety of IR-causing substances, such as free fatty acids, tumor necrosis factor alpha and the like, can also affect PI 3K activity, indicating that PI 3K is one of the intermediates that these substances result in IR
