Using CHARLS’s 2011 community data and 2012 sports lottery yearbook data, this article explores the impact of sports lottery commonweal funds on community-based mortality from two direct and indirect pathways. The empirical analysis based on the stratified linear regression model shows that: First, the infrastructure construction of community sports in our country is relatively poor and has not yet reached the requirement of “national fitness plan”, and the sports infrastructure in rural areas lags behind. Second, judging from the direct effect, the sports lottery public welfare fund has obviously promoted the health status of community residents. From the indirect effect, sports infrastructure variable is the mediator of the death rate of sports lottery public welfare funds, and the proportion of indirect conduction effect is 61.44%. Third, the direct and indirect effects of PE lottery welfare funds in rural areas on reducing the death rate of community residents are stronger than those in urban areas.
