In the global rubber consumption, synthetic rubber accounted for 54%, 46% of natural rubber. The automotive and tire industries are driving the demand for rubber in the global market, and general purpose rubber products cover a much broader area in healthcare, construction, waterproofing, dipped products, belts / hoses and more. The rubber industry is strategically linked to all major industries and therefore affected by the efficiency of other industries and the economic benefits of its trading partners. Prior to the global financial crisis, robust investment growth in emerging economies in the early 2000s boosted emerging capacity growth, expanded rubber production capacity and supported the expansion of manufacturing capabilities and capacity transfer to areas close to the production of raw materials.
