Starting from the famous Oberhausen Manifesto signed in 1962, Kruger practiced his ideological and aesthetic pursuit of “New German cinema” from the 60s to the 80s of the last century in literary writings and a large number of film and television works. Trying to break the ideological discourse power of mainstream commercial movies, freeing the shackles of political censorship, rebuilding new film grammar and rhetoric, and trying again to reinstate the rights and responsibilities of human thought and reason in the form of new forms of film art This laid Kruger as the “New German movie” theory and practice standard-bearer.
