[Objective] To observe the contraction of guinea pigs’ longitudinal strips of guinea pigs with seven Chinese herbal medicines, such as Leiqizi, Dafupi, Baizhu, cumin, Ezhu, Xiangfu, Dandelion, etc. To explore its role in promoting gastric activation. [Methods] The gastric fundus and gastric body smooth muscle strips of guinea pigs were prepared, and 0.85% sodium chloride (NS) and acetylcholine (ACh) were used as controls to observe the effect of 7 Chinese herbs on the contraction of smooth muscle in the longitudinal gastrocnemius of guinea pigs. [Results] The seven Chinese herbal medicines had different degrees of excitatory effect on gastric longitudinal muscle strips. Compared with NS group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). According to the data of ACh standardization test, the contraction effect of Radix irradians was the strongest, and there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05) compared with the big belly. Compared with other five herbs, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The effects of Atractylodes macrocephala, dandelion, and cumin were the next, both in the stomach and the stomach, the contraction effects of Curcuma zedoaria and Cyperus rotundus were slightly weaker, and they were significantly different from those of other five herbs (P<0.05). [Conclusion] All the 7 Chinese herbal medicines have strong gastric motility, among which Radix paeoniae radiata and Radix Persicae have significant effects and are worthy of further development and research. From the treatment of spleen and stomach, combined with air-lift theory, it is an effective way to promote the screening of traditional Chinese medicine for promoting gastrointestinal motility.
