Japan Kyushu University Graduate School successfully developed a 10 to 40 times stronger than steel, can greatly reduce the cost of carbon fiber building materials. Buildings constructed from this type of building material use more than one-fold longer life than steel bars, and the amount of cement used can also be reduced, providing a 2 to 4 times greater seismic performance. The test combined 480,000 carbon fibers of 7mm in diameter into a building material and tested its tensile strength, which showed it was about 10 times stronger than steel. If further reinforced with resin at room temperature, its tensile strength up to 40 times the steel. It is said that the newly developed cost of building materials with increased strength is less than 1/10 of the same kind of materials in the past and the transportation and processing are more labor-saving.
