English has undergone more than 1,500 changes from its birth to the present. In the course of its development, it has absorbed and borrowed more than 120 languages, among which Chinese Cantonese dialect is one of them. This paper intends to study Chinese Cantonese dialect loanwords in English, and explore the historical background, ways, and meanings of Chinese Cantonese dialect as the source of English loanwords.
