The status of statins in the treatment of coronary heart disease has been widely recognized, intensive statin therapy has also been affirmed the efficacy. However, it is unknown whether Chinese medicines should be strengthened if there is any difference in statin treatment among different ethnic groups. Here we discuss racial differences in statin metabolism, pharmacokinetics and clinical studies of statins in Asian populations, and comparison of the prevalence of dyslipidemia between Chinese and European and American populations. Concluded that there are racial differences in the metabolism of statins should be based on the Chinese population of statin metabolism characteristics and dyslipidemia characteristics in the context of blood lipid compliance with a lower dose of statin treatment.
