The Finite Element Analysis Program was used to find the stress intensity factor K_1 of the radial crack on the edge of a circular hole in a tensioned plate. Several different aspect ratios were studied, and the results of the large area width were compared with those of Bowie’s infinite panel. The rotating disk was also calculated and included a smooth bore and an internal bore with a keyway with a stress concentration factor of 3.7. The effects of rotational stress and the blade force acting on the edge on K_1 are respectively determined. The results are compared with the approximations proposed by Williams and Isherwood.
