The opsonization activity of IgG antibodies is important for the intravenous immunoglobulin use in the treatment of severe bacterial infections. To this end, the WHO Committee for Biological Standardization recently proposed that intravenous immunoglobulin should have opsonic activity against Streptococcus pyogenes, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Escherichia coli with O antigen on the surface. The authors studied the conditioning activity and composition of five venous immunoglobulin preparations (Venoglobulin I, Venolin, Gammagard, Polyglobin and Sandoglobulin) sold as commercial products. The results showed that both Venoglobulin I, Gammagard and Sandoglobulin contained sufficient concentrations of a against Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli with K antigen, S. pyogenes, and B Streptococcus mutans have modulating activity of antibodies. Polyglobin and Venilon right
