Currently used for disinfection of water UV lamps are mostly 30W or 15W hot cathode low pressure mercury lamp, because of its small amount of UV output, affected by the temperature, should not be immersed in water, so the disinfection efficiency is low. To increase the amount of treated water, we conducted a potable water disinfection test using a high pressure mercury gas UV lamp that can be directly immersed in water. The drinking water sterilizer used in experiment was supplied by Jinan Bulb Factory and Jinan Sewing Machine Parts Factory. High-pressure hot-cathode mercury vapor UV lamp was produced in Jinan Bulb factory. UV lamp output is 500W. In the device, the two lamps connected to Canada
