归有光是明代后期著名的散文家。自幼爱读《史记》,相传曾用五种颜色笔对《史记》作圈点。其散文受司马迁及欧阳修的影响很大,但不落其窠臼。他活动的年代,正当以王世贞为首的后七子拟古主义文风盛行之际,但他不为所屈,起而相抗。他反对后七子的“追章琢句、模拟剽窃”之风,并以自己的创作实践(主要是散文)力矫“文必秦汉”之偏,取得了较高的成就,使当时文风有所转变,对后世也有一定影响。归有光以散文见长,尤以抒情散文更具特色。他善于用平易流畅的语言,简洁疏淡的笔触,通过对身边琐事的描绘,勾画出人物的音容笑貌,寄托其真挚的感情。《项脊轩志》是归有光的代表作。文章通过项脊轩前后变迁的记述,写出了家人对他的关切、期望和彼此间的深挚感情。项脊轩是作者读书的书室。归有光的远祖归道隆曾居“昆山之项脊泾”(今江苏太仓县),作者用“项脊”二字作为书室名,
