1998 was a remarkable year for Dell Computer: In August, it officially announced the implementation of a straight-line subscription model in nine major cities in China, creating a precedent for China’s computer direct sales line; successfully introducing free sales and technical support hotlines. China, providing assistance to customers in local languages; opening “virtual” computer stores on the Internet, becoming one of the first computer systems companies to operate e-commerce and e-services in China; and customer service officially launched in Xiamen, Fujian Province in November 1998. The center further perfected Dell’s direct sales in China... The old year is over, and the new year is moving briskly.
