胸腺素α原 (Pro Tα)是一个酸性的小分子蛋白 ,在哺乳动物组织细胞中分布广泛 ,且高度保守。 Pro Tα基因家族包括 6个成员 ,但研究证明 ,其中只有一个是功能基因 ,其余均为假基因。其生理学功能目前研究不很透彻 ,主要表现在两个方面 :其一 ,Pro Tα在细胞增殖过程中起到重要作用 ,在增殖迅速的癌组织中 Pro Tα表达量明显高于周围正常组织 ,且表达量的高低与患者的预后具有相关性 ;另一方面 ,Pro Tα还具有免疫调节活性 ,实验室研究和动物实验表明其在免疫增强和抗肿瘤方面有一定的作用。也有研究报道 Pro Tα在体外可以诱导细胞恶性转化 ,可能有潜在的致癌作用
