在毛主席的革命路线指引下，我国社会主义建设事业蓬勃发展，要求我们机床制造业多、快、好、省地发展机床生产。对一般的机床厂来说要求在保证产品质量的前提下，提高效率，增加产量，同时发展品种。一个厂，一个车间，通常要采取成批、多品种轮番生产的方式，来组织生产。但是，机床的制造工艺及工艺装备如何部署和配置才能适应呢？采用一般通用设备，效率低，产量上不去；采用单一性能的专用设备，又同多品种有矛盾。沈阳第三机床厂工人和技术人员在近两年的技术革新、技术革命运动中，创制成功一批可调的组合式的专用工艺装备，比较好地实现了成批、多品种轮番生产。这里介绍的是这个厂一车间自制的几种可调的组合式专用机床。他们的思路和经验，是可供不少机床厂参考的。
