In order to gain a better understanding of the progress of global soil respiration research and provide reference for researchers in related fields. Based on the Web of Science data source, this paper uses the analysis tool of Webof Science database, Netdraw, a tool for network analysis and visualization, and CitespaceII, a citation network analysis tool, to study the annual changes of the dissertation and to study the influences of countries and institutions, periodical distribution, researchers, Strength and content of six aspects of the study of soil respiration from 1982 to 2011 econometric analysis. The results show that the annual published volume of the international soil respiration study in recent 30 years accords with the exponential growth law; the United States and Germany have a higher comprehensive influence in the field of soil respiration research; the United States is located at the center of global soil respiration research cooperation and exchange, followed by Germany and Canada; The “Global Change Biology” in the United States and “Soil Biology and Biochemistry” in the Netherlands are two journals with high quality soil respiration papers. China ranks second in the world in volume of soil respiration, but its overall quality needs to be further improved. China Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the largest research organization in the field of soil respiration in the country, . The 1982-2012 international study on soil respiration mainly deals with the measurement of carbon dioxide fluxes, the relationship between forests and ecosystems, soil respiration and climate change and atmospheric carbon dioxide, soil physical and chemical properties (organic matter, nitrogen and decomposition), temperature and microbial biomass Soil respiration factors.
