刘昌毅将军1914年生于湖北红安,因作战英勇顽强,人称“军中猛张飞”。将军身经千余仗,历险百余次,头、脸、手、腿、腰、背、胯、臀,无一处没有弹痕。将军晚年居广州,逢阴雨天,旧疾复发,疼痛难忍,仍然坐如钟,站如松,走如风,保持严整的军人风度,人若搀扶,必遭痛骂。刘昌毅将军原名刘昌义。1945年,将军率部与国民党暂编第十五军作战,俘敌一军官。将军亲审之,问:“你们军长叫什么?”
