In 1937, the war broke out in full swing. The young husband, Jin Fansun, Lin Fu, Zhang Ming Cao and other Zhejiang-born young woodcutters returned to their hometown of southern Zhejiang province from Shanghai. Using this as a starting point, they opened up a very dynamic southeast woodcut position. These artists who took part in the southeast woodcut movement used woodcut as their weapon to propagandize the war of resistance against Japan and promoted the development of wartime woodcut movement. They have made outstanding achievements in personnel training, supply of woodcut materials, dissemination and publicity of woodcut, public education and so on. They are an important part of the anti-Japanese cultural movement. However, this period of history has not been effectively demonstrated due to objective material constraints. This paper attempts to enrich people’s understanding of this fine art activity through the research on the key players and organizers of the southeast woodcut movement.
