Skp2 belongs to the recognition subunit of ubiquitin protease system. It can regulate the cell cycle by specifically recognizing protein substrates, mediating the ubiquitination degradation of various cell cycle regulators and promoting the progression of cell cycle to S phase. Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors (CDKIs) play key roles as cell cycle negative regulators in maintaining normal cell cycle. p27 is a member of the cyclin kinase inhibitor that inhibits cell passage through the cell cycle checkpoint, arrests cell growth, prevents cell hyperproliferation, and has a potent ability to stabilize normal cell physiology
