磁泡技术是近十多年来兴起的新技术。以磁泡为基础的磁泡存储技术有许多独到的特性,如电可读写信息、信息的非易失性、高可靠性(无机械部分)、可高密度集成化、高速度等。因此它可适应从微处理机到计算机主机电子磁盘等各种需要,进而有可能引起计算机存储体系和软件体系的改变。由于上述原因,近年来磁泡技术发展迅速并引起世界上许多国家的重视,预计八十年代磁泡将会在存储系统中起到更为重要的作用。为了便于国内有关科技工作者系统地了解当前世界磁泡存储技术的概况,本刊组译了张煦博士撰写的“磁泡存储技术”一书。该书全面而系统地介绍了磁泡存储技术的原理和各种可能的应用及应用实例。该书取材新颖、大部分素材取自近几年来的科研成果。本书不是对一般原理的赘述,而是对当代磁泡存储技术的现状和潜在发展进行了高度概括,很富有启发性。(该书名为:“MAGNETIC-BUBBLE MEMORY TECHNOLOGY”) “磁泡存储技术”一书的作者张煦(Hsu Chang)是美国IBM Watson 研究中心的高级研究员、博士并任 Carnegie-Mellon大学客座教授。张博士的研究领域是多方面的,如:各种磁现象、器件物理、器件装置和系统结构等。目前正在从事磁泡在数据库中应用的研究。他对磁泡及磁性元器件有很深的造诣,曾发表过很多的著作,仅在磁泡方面就发表了20多篇文章并著有两本书。现组译的就是他最近发表的新书。他是IEEE磁学部分的评论编辑和主编,并被选为IEEE的委员。他在IBM 获得29个专利,并获得十项发明和三项突出贡献奖。张博士曾多次来华访问。由于本书篇幅较长,本刊将节译分期连载。 Bubble technology is the rise of new technology over the past decade. Bubble-based bubble memory technology has many unique features, such as electrically readable and writable information, non-volatile information, high reliability (no mechanical part), high density integration, high speed and so on. Therefore, it can adapt to various needs from the microprocessor to the computer host electronic disk, which in turn may cause the computer storage system and software system changes. Due to the above reasons, the bubble technology has developed rapidly in recent years and aroused the attention of many countries in the world. It is estimated that the bubble in the 1980s will play a more important role in the storage system. In order to facilitate the domestic scientific and technological workers to systematically understand the current global bubble storage technology profile, the publication group translated Dr. Zhang Xu “bubble storage technology” book. The book comprehensive and systematic introduction of the principle of the bubble memory technology and a variety of possible applications and application examples. The book is novel, most of the material taken from scientific research in recent years. This book is not a general description of the general principle, but the current situation and potential development of the current bubble storage technology were highly summarized, very inspiring.
