新闻传媒对一个社会、一个民族的价值观念、道德准绳的确立作用巨大，就观念参照来讲，其主流媒体所起到的社会心理定位的坐标功能是不容忽视的。如人物报道群体模式可以形成社会人格的参考坐标；灾难性报道的真实传播可以唤起人性的关爱情感，而组成道德伦理坐标；纪实性报追则可以形成社会的价值观坐标。正由于新闻报道对人群的社会价值定位有着这种不容忽视的坐标功能，就要求我们新闻工作者在讲究符合传播规律的同时，更要高度重视它的价值引导和道德取向。
The news media plays a huge role in establishing the values and moral standards of a society and a nation. As far as the concept is concerned, the coordinate function of the social psychological orientation played by the mainstream media can not be ignored. For example, the model of character coverage group can form the reference coordinate of social personality. The true spread of catastrophic reports can arouse the love and affection of human nature and form the moral and ethical coordinates. The documentary reporting can form social coordinate of values. Due to the fact that the coverage of news on the social value of the people has such an important coordinate function, it requires us journalists to pay more attention to its value guidance and moral orientation while paying attention to the law of communication.
